Sea Hare?

Has anyone see a Sea Hare for sale locally? I used to have one that was passed around to reefers that needed it and he cleaned up like CRAZY. It has passed away and I need some algae cleaned up. If someone has one to lend out I will make him fat and happy for a month or two. If I have to buy one this time I will culture hair algae for him since they always seem to clean up and then starve.

Thanks,
-- Kevin

i was thinking about buying one next time i ordered from SWF, but that wont be for a couple months. after that though, id be happy to lend it out to whoever needs it.

havent ever seen any for sale around here though.

Thanks, I have bought a couple from Phishy Business in the past and they do a great job but maybe too good since they soon have no food left. They are very large (4-6" long and 3" wide)
I have been told, by people who have seen them in my tanks, that they look like a "huge ball of snot" or "uglier than a Michigan cheerleader" LOL

wow, that sound horrible! lol, what size tank did you have them in? how long did they take to clean it?

Had one in each 75g tanks that was overrun with hair algae and it was 98% cleaned in 2 weeks or so. It will be funny to start growing the algae on purpose but I would rather have them live after completing the task I asked of them.

Here's one:

Gee Kevin, as a veterinarian and lover of all creatures great and small, I think it's pretty lousy of you to compare this poor animal to a Michigan cheerleader.

Add another post!

Stan you are in a posting fury lately! :)

Jasonf08 I am headed there today. I was just trying to find out if anyone had a confirmed sighting of one elsewhere or had one to lend out.

I will let everyone know when mine is a few days from needing a home with lots of green algae

Phishy has them in stock and on sale

Thanks for the heads up.
I have to meet people at the Critter today to exchange some items. If he doesn't have one I will head out that way next week. It is only one and a quarter hour drive to Phishy and 50 minutes to Salty Critter so I would have a long drive ahead of me if I did both today.

Hoping to get there 4:30 ish but I made definite plans for 5:00. You going out there? If so, what do you have that I want to take home ;)

Hey Kevin, did you end up picking one up? Sean and I stopped out at SC and noticed they had a couple there.

I was just up there may there there cool looking.. I dont think I can support 1 I dont have that much algea. would love to use one for a while..

I will let you know when they are getting close to being caught up. I will start a loaner thread and get a list going so they don't have to die like previous sea hares have.

I plan to take daily pictures of progress and I will post them on RC.

Scott totally needs to borrow it when your tank is cured....he could keep it fed for years at this rate......guess you aren't going to serdar's tomorrow? We were contemplating.
