Sea Spider

I've heard they are predatory. And they eat only certain specific prey also, and that they don't last long in our systems. (hitchhikers)

P.S.. I'M JEALOUS :debi:

If you look at the pic closely, I think it's carrying eggs, but not sure. I don't expect it to live long in my tank, but you never know. I expect the coral banded shrimp to take it out once the lights go off. It's about the size of a quarter and cool to watch. I took some video that I'll try and post some time.

I can easily see why a coral banded would harm that.. arrow crabs and CBS are mortal enemies (for whatever reason..) and the spider looks like a baby arrow. I'd put it in a refugium or sp. tank.. it would be interesting if the eggs hatched and thrived somehow. :blown:

Here is another pic before it found the rocks...

You could probably buy one of those floating breeding containers (like at a petco or petsmart) and put her in there.

Hydroids hmm... yep your in trouble :D

It seams to just be filter feeding. I have no coral yet and the only anemone I have is aptasia, and it's still there. I did a water change today and all the stuff I stirred up stuck to its legs. It basically will stay in one spot for hours and wave it's legs around in the water and seems to be gathering small stuff out of the water column. Thing still scares me though.

If you don't notice him chewing on corals, or attacking fish then he will be perfectly fine. I'd be worried about his size and the CBS.. along with any other predatory fish.. its waiting to happen..

Hopefully she/he is a filter feeder.

If you have trouble toss him/her over here! :lolspin:

Still alive! Just hangs out on the rocks waving its arms and legs around slowly. What's really weird is that he has 3-4 joints on each leg and they not only bend, they rotate! Impossible to tell if it's eating, i don't even think it has a stomach, it's just sticks that walk.

Damn, one of his legs fell off some how. Now he's missing two. Might be the start of his demise. :sad1:

Awww...

I don't think they are like crinoids so it might not the be case. Where those by chance the legs that were waving around?

Well, one leg was gone when I received it. The other one was laying on a rock that he had been hangin on. He waves them all around frequently. I've got some video but guess can't post that here?

If you got a youtube account you can post that here (Scroll down under the video->share->embed-> copy and past the code into the post.)

Example:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/x1bfrMtydSY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

You can also make a free photobucket account and post a video on there and find the same code somewhere and just copy and paste it to the post.

The code usually looks something like this:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/x1bfrMtydSY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>.
