Sea Squirt/Tunicates

They are filterfeeders. They feed on stuff in the water. What that 'stuff' is, we have no idea because they have not really been studdied.

The only person I know of that does any work with filter feeders of this ilk is Steve Tyree at dynamic ectomorphology. He has written two books on using filter feeders as an in tank filter alternative to skimmers.

Google his name and company name and you will find his web site.

All I know is that their is one on some live rock I got and I dont know if I should put the food in the area or just let it do its thing. Worst of all I dont know what to name it.....

The new invertebrate book from Anthony Calfo and Bob Fenner has some really great info on turnicates.

It's been explained to me that tunicates are basically just an organism that is a valve. The opening with the visible gill is the intake and the other one is the exhaust. That's it.

Well if you simplify everything to that level...are people really much more?
