Sea Squirt/Tunicates

I would probably sustain from buying any.

I haven't really heard of anyone keeping them long term. They seem just melt away, grow back, and then melt away and not come back.

There are some people who end up getting a colony that reproduces for a while as hitchikers on live rock. Ultimately, they all seem to die off.

StupidsReef,

Do you have lots of sponge growth in your tank? I would say you only have a shot if a diverse assemblage of sponges are able to do well.

Avoid the light blue, stalked species as they never seem to do well in aquaria. I have a black and white colony that is doing OK so far. It came on a piece of LR and those on the surface being hit by the light directly (about 12" from four 36" VHO lamps) died. Those on the side of the rock are OK. Look for LFS with nice LR that they keep in their sales tanks and look for colonies of tunicates on the rock. If you find a small rock you can get a good deal on the tunicates which are attached.
