it is important to know how much gph (gallons per hour) you are planning to run through the sea swirl. That will determine the size sea swirl you will need. It is my understanding that if you try to put a smaller sea swirl on a large volume return; it will not work properly. From Sea Swirl website:
flow rates for each model as follows:
1/2 inch model - 550 gph
3/4 inch model - 850 gph
1 inch model - 1150 gph
Marty also gave some good info on purchasing sea swirls as well.
