I'm down in the keys this weekend looking for some more crazy macros...I only wish my underwater housing had arrived already.
 
I've tried to hold a reversed 50mm in front of my 100mm macro and it's tough to work with. The DOF is basically nothing but you can get some serious magnification though! Are you just reversing the 50mm lens to the body or reversing the 50mm after a normal lens in already in place?
 
Yup, you got it right. No dof and tough to work with. :)
I wish I could reverse the lens on the body, but I am a P&S guy...for now.

If you look, you can see the modified rear lens cap that keeps it open. took me a few days to figure that out.. No more vignetting
for me!!Stupid FD mount. haha
