sea world...kinda dissapointing

ya that kinda sucks that theres nothin here in az...too far from water tho i guess...and i agree that shedd was better than scripps

I grew up with the Shedd and always remembered being amazed by their setup. My school used to take field trips there all the time. I recently went back to see the Oceanarium and the whale/dolphin show because that was all "new". I couldn't believe how horribly crowded that it was there!! But I don't remember it ever costing that much.

I am making a trip to San Fransisco next month and I hope to check out the new Stein Aquarium. Their reef tank is very new, but supposedly it is huge. I'll take lots of pictures.

Agreed, Sea World is super boring! We left feeling like we just visited one of California's worst tourist traps.

I went there about a year ago with family and friends and I remember that a 1-Year Annual Pass was included in our park fees. Not only did we leave early because we were bored, but we didn't go back. Worse yet, the kids didn't even like it.

Monterrey Bay aquarium is absolutely awesome, especially the jelly fish and sea lion displays. I was also very impressed by their tidal wave display. It's neat to see that they spent the time to focus on this fascinating part of sea life. The deep-sea creature display is also very interesting.

When I went there, I was given a special tour of their water processing facility and procedures, as it relates to the bay water. It is fascinating to see how they have to clean out their plumbing by the use of "pigs", which are basically huge plugs that they insert in the system (while in operation) to scrape the barnacles off the pipes.

You end up feeling like you're really connected with the Ocean and I think they are doing and excellent job of educating poeple on just how important the Oceans of the World are.

ya little kids prolly like it more than older people...at least older people who have an idea of what aquariums look like that is lol...theres a bunch of people that were in there talkin about the "dori" fish and how pretty it was...it had freakin ich all over lol! i was tryin to decide weather or not to explain to them that the fish was sick...but i decided that it wasnt worth the headache lol.

By the way.... has anyone visited Biosphere 2 down near Tucson? I heard from a friend that they have a great coral reef there, but my friend isn't in to the hobby. So..... I'm wondering if it's really worth a trip or not.
