I've been dosing Seachems Reef Complete for Ca and baking soda for Alk for almost a year. Just recently, i've upgraded my lighting which resulted to added corals which resulted to used up Ca and Alk. Before I used to dose 3tsp of baking soda twice a week, and 25mL(5 cap fulls) of Reef Complete twice a week. NOW, I dose 4tsp of baking soda three times a week, and 35mL(7 cap fulls) of Reef Complete twice a week.

I guess my question here is, what is the most I can dose of EACH per day? 7 cap fulls of Reef Complete sounds like a lot for one day.

You have to dose as much as it will take, long as you don't raise levels too much it's OK.

However, have you checked your magnesium? Too little magnesium causes ca and alk to precipitate out and you have to dose heaps but don't achieve anything.

Magnesium should be at least 3 times calcium. IE if you want calcium at 400, magnesium should be at a minimum 1200, but best a little more, to prevent excess precipitation.

I would rather think about Seachem Reef Advantage Calcium, dry CaCl2. Small amount raises Ca significantly, and will not add too much organic carbon (gluconate of liquid Ca) for potential bacterial bloom.

Are you baking the baking soda in the oven, in order to make a mix of sodium carbonate (washing soda) and sodium bicarbonium (baking soda)? What is dosage per gal?
