Seaclone 100?

Hey I have a seaclone 100 and to me it doesn't seem that efficient. I believe it has a rio 1200 on it. Is there anything I can do to it to make it more efficient? At least make it a good skimmer until I can get to buy a nice one. Thanks!

You should have a MJ on it, if you dont go ahead and get a MJ, that will make all the change in the world. Rio's are not that good.

ok which mj then? cause it has a very small input for the skimmer. and the venturi has to fit. Thanks for the help.

Get the MJ 1200. Not a problem, did you happen to buy the skimmer used? I ask this b/c of the fact the pump that comes with this skimmer is the MJ 1200.

I think no matter what you do to a seaclone it will still forever be a seaclone. I used a seaclone 100 on my 30, and it wasn't anywhere near efficient. Barely did anything but create bubbles and take up space. Then I switched to a Coralife Super Skimmer 65 and it did a much better job.

ok I just went and looked it is a MJ. But I gotta find that fine line of adjusting the air valve I guess. Any suggestions?

When you hear it make a nice noise, kind of loud but not too loud thats when its working good. And look on the bottom of the skimmer and when you see a tornado starting then its workin good as well.

Well i am not to sure about that, my seaclone seems to be getting a lot of gunk out of my tank, and the saying goes if it aint broke dont fix it.

Do a search on Seaclones, both on RC and Google.
There used to be a pretty decent thread on some cheap DIY upgrades you can do that will help.

Good luck.

i would try a single layer of mesh on the impellar. you can get the stuff on ebay for like 6 bucks shipped.

my euro is meshmodded and hers 13 hours of skimmate
my cup hold 1.5 gallons. i changed it last night at 11 pm and hers a pic at noon today

it takes about a week for some reason to really get to skimming well

in fact if you pm me your address i have a small piece that would work perfcetly you can use fishing line to secure it to the impellar.
you will probably have to make a silencer for the air valve. since your going to be pulling in alot more air.

ahh just found some fishhing line as well i can ship it to you this week if you want

I had a seaclone and no matter how much I tweeked and swore and drank it never did anything more than put air bubbles in my tank, I eventually found a remora, the gift from god.
