.......
also if anyone knows a better one that wont break the bank (150)
let me know
thanks!

your not going to get very favorable opinions on the seaclone here. IMO they are not worth the plastic they are made of.

for $150 bucks,i would look for a used one of better pedigree
or something from sealife systems, red sea or......

what size tank is this going on?

Chris

lol
sorry my stuff is wrong
i have a 40 gallon
with a 20 gallon sump/fuge.
my budget isnt 150
keep the IMO comming
i have a red sea right now and i freaking hate it

I used a seaclone 150 for a year and when I upgraded to a remora I found out what skimming was then! dont make the same mistake I did I wouldnt even buy 1 for $0.99

Did you mean your budget is $150 and mis typed? If it is $150 and under, take a look at the Bubble Magus BM-100 from nuocean.com. It should fit nicely in your 20g sump and it wont break the bank at only $130+shipping.

I am running a seaclone on a 30 gal setup. They are not total junk, but are surely not the best. I fell seaclone over rated there skimmer as mine works good on my small tank and I have a buddy using one on a bigger tank with no luck. The only way I would buy another is if I found one used and realy cheap, maybe to use for a QT tank or curing some live rock. The key to getting fair results from a seaclone is keeping it clean, and I mean the intire unit and pump. There are far better skimmers out there and you can even check the selling forum here to buy a good used skimmer. I will state agian, I wouldn't spend the money on buying another one new. If you can wait a little while till you realy need a skimmer, take that $150 put it aside and keep saving till you can buy something better. Here is a quick pic of my seaclone, the only thing I changed was the air valve it came with (no other mods).

I have an Octo bh2000 on my 30 soft/lps tank and have been very happy with it. About the same price as the other hobs mentioned. I would estimate that it produces about 2-3X more skimmate per day, and darker skimmate, than my Remora Pro did. HTH

IMHO seaclones are junk. I own a CSS and have owned other CSS's in the past and love them. At first I was not thrilled, but over time and after learning how touchy they are I love mine.

I have a pro clear in sump skimmer that I'll sell you for 50.00 shipped. Comes with a pump. If you're interested PM me

you know i recieved one for free from a fellow reefer.
modded the impeller and added the bio ball mod.
while it may not skim as well as my euro reef it does take out some nasty stuff. i am completely impressed to see what this skimmer has pulled out. on my 55 gallon it is working pretty well.
i wouldnt spend the 150 on it to be honest. but to say its totally junk is kinda off on the deep end in my opinion.

are you saying that you have 150 to spend..
i still love the euro reef rs80 if you can find one. they are awesome and produce some nice gunk for a tank your size.
