Seaclone question

I just hooked up that Seaclone, that Ade gave me on Saturday, just to see how it works. Seems everyone is complaining of these microbubbles that come into the tank when it is running. How do people control this?

I added a new control valve to the air adjustment and I can fine tune it a little better. Do I look for the tube to be filled with a cloud or do I just fine tune it with just a vortex in the center for proper skimming?

I understand i'll be adjusting forever, once I get everything in the tank, but for now I'd like to get a feel before i start adding everything.

Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about the vortex. You're efficiency is going to go up the more air you can inject into the chamber. I would set it up with the highest amount of bubble concentration without it pouring bubbles back into your system.

I found when I ran my seaclone that when it had been running for a day or two, the water "changed" and the bubbles stopped. As soon as I topped it off or did a water change the bubbles were back for a little while.

I was reading that alot...now its clarified! Thanks!

I remember the instructions called for the bubble column to be a "rope" up the center. You will be able to see a fairly tight bubble column that does resemble a rope. Don't get it too tight or you won't have enough air. On the other hand, you will lose the vortex action if you allow too much air in.

I will second what Paul said. Run a tight column. I found if you open the valve all the way you will get air bubbles.
Making sure that the air line and pump is clear from build up.

Ok....the mighty seaclone is now running with zero bubbles and the air valve is tuned up quite a bit so far. I will watch for skim buildup maybe in a month or two when I get more things in the tank.

Once I get the stand welded up and powder coated, i will make room for a sump on the second shelf and start building that for future usage.
