Seaclone Skimmer

I have had my tank setup for just about a year now. I have a 75 g tank with a Seaclone Skimmer. The skimmer keeps getting clogged! I just cleaned it Saturday and it is already clogged and not working again. I noticed it this morning. Any ideas on what I can do?

Where is the clog??? In the venturi input??? Clogged with salt???

nEMO.. i used to use the same skimmer. there are a number of modifications that you can make to this skimmer to make it work OK. My personal experiance with it was horribal. It was alright for the first couple of months but the hasstle ect was a HUGE PITA. I seriously recomend that you consider upgrading to somthing else. I went from the "SEACLOWN" to a Euro Reef skimmer. The differance in skimate is amazing. Take the Powerhead the seaclone comes with and use it for moving water in your display or use it for water changes. Throw away the rest and save your self the hassle of dealing with the skimmer. I dont mean to sound like an *** but this is what everyone else is going to tell you anyway.

I am not sure where the clog is. The only thing that I have found that works is soaking it in hot water.

I have been debating getting a new skimmer but I didn't know where to even begin looking at which one was better than another. I will look into the Euro Reef skimmer. Thanks!

Is it still pushing water but no bubbles? If so, the venturi is getting clogged with salt where the airline attaches to the venturi. Mine would do that and I found that boiling some water and letting the skimmer suck it through the airline everytime I cleaned the cup would keep it from clogging. I've also just blown through the airline.

With a couple of mods I was able to get mine to work pretty decently.

I just upgraded to an ASM last week and the difference is amazing, but the SC served me well until I was able to afford to upgrade.
