Seahorse Tank Lighting Questions

I'm considering setting up my 33 gallon Oceanic Cube as a seahorse tank. I've already got 1 reef tank, 1 FOWLR, & 1 prop/grow out tank, so I'm pretty familiar with what it takes to run a s/w aquarium.

My question is what type of lighting should I use on the cube? I've got the strip light that comes w/ the cube & my thinking is along the theory of.......if I'm not attempting to grow corals, do I need a lot of lighting. I plan on running calepera (sp?) for the horses to have something to hold on to. If it doesn't require a tremendous amount of light to grow in my fuge, it shouldm't in the horse tank either right? I've got a few 175 MH's around, but I think the wife will kill me if I setup another tank that makes the meter spin a hole in the ozone.................

Thanks in advance,

Steve :D

You got it right. For the last two years I have run 2 40w no fluorescent tubes over my 40g horse tank. The caulerpa and chaeto grow just fine. I even manage to keep a group of 5 discosoma shrooms alive, though the have not grown or spread.

I just finished upgrading my lights to accomodate a gorgonian I added.
