seal leaking pump

Ok, leak tested the tank and except for some small dribbles all was good.

On the DART, where the inlet fitting screws into the pump it is pretty much as far as it will go and with plenty of teflon tape. It has a small drip seeping out of the fitting.

I was considering using plumbers putty or silicon to seal the FNPT fitting into the pump. Any other Ideas????

I always use "blue magic" brand pipe dope, never leaks. You cant find it at lowes or the depot, I get mine from winwater, but you can also probably get it from rampart or mountain states maybe.
dont use plumbers putty or silicone though that will just gum it all up and make a mess.

The manufacturer of the pump in on filmore. Why not take it over to them and have them fix it?

the FNPT fitting is 1/4" longer than the female in the pump. I cut it on the table saw and all is good now! MDM wanted to sell me a new inlet cover for $25.

So the fitting was bottoming out in the pump?

Yep, leaving about 1/4" of threads exposed at the base, that is where it was dripping from.

I have had that problem in the past, and couldn't get it to seal. Now I know how to fix it. Good work Paul.
