Sealing magnets for use on PHs

What would be the best way to seal magnets in order to use them as holders for phs? I have several magnets that were inside of algae scrapers and when I opened them up they were all rusted.

Would covering them with a layer of silicone do the job? Any suggestions are welcomed.

anyway you could cover them so no part of the actual magnet is exposed to seawater should do it. Silicone will work, but in my experience silicone peals off easily. One appoach would be to wrap up the magnet in a couple layers of heatshrink....? could work

I have known a few people that put 2 coats of epoxy over the magnets and then put 2 layers of silicone. I would think the silicone would do the trick but the epoxy would give you added protection.b

What type of expoxy?

any type. Epoxy is chemically inert once completely curred. I would just go to HD or Lowes and get a 2 part epoxy cement and then coat it with a nice thick couple of layers.

i just use pvc cement to hold up a seio 1500. Holds and been working great

You used it to adhere the magnets to the seio or to coat it? I have PVC cement. What types of magnets did you use?

Im going to post a pic of what I have in a bit.

What type? Im a bit lost on the epozy part. I have two part epoxy but it is for cars. I also have the epoxy that you use to create frag plugs.

Can you give me a name or a brand? Thanks.
