SEARA PH-ORP controller

Hello,

I have a second hand SEARA PH-ORP controller. It has two bnc connectors and an AC module which plugs into the wall. I know what to hook up to the bnc connectors, but the AC module has an additional recepticle on top of the box that plugs into the wall. Does anyone know if I am supposed to hook up my CA reactor or Kalkwasser doser to this to control ph? I've seen the ph probes around, but no orp probes. Should I be ok just to use the ph side?

any tips welcome,

Thanks,

Paul

The Seara is designed to only control either pH or ORP, not both at the same time. Assuming the unit is working and you have a good pH probe, you should be ok to control your CA reactor, but probably not your Kalk reactor. I'm not sure, but I think its set to only turn on when the pH raises above a set point. This is what you need to control a CA reactor since opening the solenoid for the CO2 will drop the pH in the tank. Kalk does the opposite and needs a controller that turns on when the pH goes below a setpoint. Some controllers can be set to either function, but I don't think the Seara can.

Hey,

I think Ill buy the ph probe and calibration fluid. Then, Ill hookup the CA reactor and CO2 solenoid to be on whenever the ph is at or above, say, 7.9. I can add kalkwasser when I see that the CA reactor is not running.......good plan?

Thanks bud,

Paul
