I'm looking for a complete list of all Reef Safe fish.
I've found several that list some but I'm looking for a full list if it exists?

The definition of reef safe, or who gets included, varies depending on who you ask. That plus the enormous number of fish you could theoretically find in the hobby... I can't imagine a "full list" exists.

I'd like to find this as well.

I'm trying to stock my 40br.

I've just got a pair of percula's. Mixed reef.

The clowns spend most of the time in the anemone. Id like to find a nice swimming fish thats reef safe that wont pick on the clowns.

Absolutely. I'd be surprised if you can even find a complete list of the different definitions for "reef safe", and those will drastically change what makes the cut.

The reason I wanted a Complete list is so I can see what will work with a reef system without going here and there.
I can find partial lists and "reef safe" catagories on many livestock websites but just wondering if there was a full list out there.
I know some are reef safe, some are reef safe with caution, blah, blah... Some fish people have good luck with..., others not so much.

I just wanted a "General" reef safe fish list.

There really is no such thing as 'reef safe'. There's people that put lions, and triggers and all sorts of things in their reef tanks. Like the others have said, this list will depend on a) who you ask and b) what else is in the tank. :fish1:

OK... You guys are reading into this Way to much!!

I could put Any fish in my tank and as long as I feed it well and it doesn't nip at my corals... POOF, he's reef safe if you ask me!

BUT, there are, generally, "Reef Safe" fish that are generally considered reef safe and thats the list I'm looking for.

Sort of like this from another site....

"Here is a compiled reef safe and easy to moderately easy fish list. Print it and file it!

Are you looking for a fish that is safe with all corals? Certain types of corals? What if it won't touch corals 80% of the time, is that safe enough?

How about inverts? Some will eat shrimp but not clams, some will eat clams but not shrimp, etc.

A fish that is safe with other fish? Well that depends on which other fish.

Glancing over your list I see many fish that are often cited as unsafe (angels should be an obvious one) and others that would not be safe with the setup I have. I see ones that are incompatible with others. There is no list that will cover it all.

I just go on live aquaria, and blue zoo and see what they have. If it isn't on there it will be a harder fish to get.

... but just wondering if there was a full list out there.

There's not, for the reasons mentioned above.

Coming up with an "easy to keep" list is much simpler than coming up with a "reef-safe" list, again, for the reasons ctrl+f mentioned. Is a lionfish "reef safe"? Some will say "yes", because it won't bother your corals. Others will say "no" because they want to keep small fish and ornamental crustaceans, for which the lionfish will definitely not be safe.

When you consider whether or not a fish is reef-safe, you have to look at whether it's corals safe (and you could also break this down into soft and hard corals, which can be different), motile invert safe, and fish safe.

It would be easier to list whats commonly available and not reef safe. Assuming you mean "coral-safe", off the top of my head... leave out angels, butterflies, and dwarf puffers.

As was said above, look around at the different categories of fish on sites like liveaquaria.com, bluezooaquatics.com, saltwaterfish.com, themarinecenter.com... they have a pretty good list of available fish, and will list wether they are reef safe or not.

Thats what I've done for years.... I just thought by now, maybe someone had put together a list to make it easier. And yes, I meant corals.

AND, on that list I wanted to see Picaso Trigger, REEF SAFE!!!!!!:D
