Searching for a pair

I have a 20L tank with live rock, powerhead and and one tomato clown (female died about 4 months ago) that has been living in there for about 3 years. I haven't been keeping it up great (college) but recently decided to give another try of spawning some fishies. I want to raise some maroon's because I just think they're the prettiest. Can anyone give me some feedback about success in breeding maroon clowns. I also have a Condy in there which I will get rid of along with the tomato clown. I think a LTA will be the best for these clowns. As soon as I get my Nitrates in control, I will buy the fish but can't decide if I want to pair on my own or buy a pair. For better success with the fish accepting the anemone, should I put the anemone in there first or put the fish in there first?

I am so excited!!! Whoever helps me get some babies-I will ship!
even though I know it will take a lot of time depending on the pair. Thanks.

Clemson- In your position ( one tank and a desire to breed) I would seriously consider only 2 options: 1) pay the premium and buy a "proven pair" form someplace like Inland Aquatics or 2) get established locally with lfs and the local reef club. People are always desperate to get rid of mature maroon pairs as they get far too agressive for their community tank :) Usually they offer them to local hobbyists via a club or they take them as trade-ins to the lfs. The hitch for you may be the tank size, maroons are BIG fish and a pair that spawns comfortably in someones 125 reef might not in your 20L. IMO you would have better luck setting your sites on ocellaris for now and moving on when you have time and space for more tanks. Maybe not what you want to hear but I wouldn't really consider maroon clowns an "entry level" fish for breeding ;)

if you dont get a pair of maroon's you may very well end up with dead maroon's. maroon's are one of the most aggressive of clowns

Aight, thanks guys. Do you think they will accept the LTA? I know its a little harder to keep than the BTA but I really like them. I've had a maroon before and i know they're aggressive. I guess I will try the False Perc. They're cheaper too! And should I put in the anemone before or after I add the fish. Thanks.

Haha...Breeding a maroon with a false perc? Come on now...I'm not a beginner. Im gonna try a pair of false percs with the LTA. I know they are the easiest and fastest. That makes more sense with my tank size and everything.
