Seasl's fringe benefits

I'm thinking about finally joining SEASL! I've read all the stuff on the website, but want to know the 'fringe' benefits from real members and why it's a good thing to join. Don't be shy!

There are some discounts at LFS's and regular, well attended meetings with good topics and speakers such as Calfo and Borneman. Great time to meet up with local reefers to swap and buy at the meetings. Is this what you're looking for?

You're right at the start of the meeting season too right now.

Yes and thank you. I just want to get a perspective from the members. You know, what they like and dislike about it. Sounds like it can be a really cool thing if you are active with it.

So for a noob like myself - if I don't have anything of value to trade, can you purchace frags at the frag swap events?

Frankly being new to the area (from minnesota) it was just really nice to have a group of people who are so personable, open and great company. I think that is a good benefit.

Yes, you can. And people fairly frequently have frags for sale or to give away for free around here.

Dert - maybe if you'd joined sooner, your tagline would be "FishWhisperer Extraordinaire."

I like because for the first year after a noobie joins they buy me lunch at the nearest pub after the meetings!!!

also all the free doughnuts they provide :)

All this sounds great - thanks! Tell me more about these trips the members can go on. What's that about?

We typically go to Inland Aquatics once per year and have tank tours where we go from house to house looking at members tanks.
