sebae anemone

i'm interested in getting a sebae anem....but what all do they require? I've got a 4x96 pc over a 40 breeder, so the tank is pretty well lit considering the tank isnt very tall.

But how hard are they to keep generally? I'm guessing i could feed it stuff like frozen mysis, krill, and maybe stuff like silversides? (those would be easiest i'd think).

But would one be ok in my 40 breeder w/the 4x96 pc?

Also, are there any sebae's besides the white ones?

oh, and last...what other anemone's are known to be succesful hosts to black ocellaris clowns? So far they havent taken to any softies that i've got, and i've never tried an anemone but i want one anyways so its no big deal if they dont take to it really...but it would be nice to get one that they would most likely take to...so are there any others that i could succesfully keep w/my system that they'd be good with?

thanks

Usually when you see a white one some bleaching is going on, they should be more cream colored.

As far your light, you should be fine with that depth of tank. moderate flow and keep water params in line you should be ok

ok thanks :) i've been trying to find stuff on them and i see that they're normally a brownish color when healthy..so i'll look for that.

Any other anemone's that would be a good choice??? I'd prefer a "sand dwelling" one like the sebae if possible

oh and one more thing...not anemone related, but would a toadstool make a good host for clowns? Might be getting one soon..

FWIW - it's very hard for us to find healthy sebaes here in the midwest, maybe it's different in other parts of the country. They just don't ship well. The stress of being pulled from their homes, and shipped to suppliers, and retailers, then to your home, water changing all the time it's quite a bit of stress.
If you decide that that is definately what you want, your best bet is to look for the healthiest you can find, although it might not be perfect. Then offer it the best care you can.
Sorry, I can't offer any thoughts on lighting. I'm not good at the technical stuff - I let my husband take care of that!

Yes they do. I think I remember reading somewhere that keeping leathers and anemones in the same tank is not always a good idea because of the chemicals each secretes. Hopefully people with longterm experience contradicting this will pipe in.

Have you considered an aquacultured BTA? Some suggest them as good "beginner anemones."

I know of several tanks with thriving H. crispa and leather corals. However, the main difference is that these tanks were substantially larger (~240 gallons). A large specimen of both may present a problem in your smaller tank, though with aggressive filtration and water changes, you may be able to manage. I think space and eventual contact will be more of an issue. There are brown individuals available (sometimes better than that), though they are difficult to find. Your lighting should be adequate for H. crispa. I recommend feeding a fish based food for this species, such as silversides.
