I wanted to let you all know that Sone and I have decided that for the 2008 year we will combine the secretary and treasurer positions. We are doing this in an effort to improve communication and do away with some of the issues that have been communicated to us from past BOD members. A large amount of the problems seem to come from the fact that the two positions responsibilities overlap and putting distance between the those positions inhibits productivity. Also, with the changes that have come with the new website some of the past duties of the positions has been somewhat automated.
So, with the above changes in mind we feel that it would be appropriate to re-open nominations for the position based on the significant changes that are involved with the roles and responsibilities of the new Secretary/Treasurer position. There will be another thread started on the forums, both Reef Central and GIRS, to accomodate these nominations. I know that we already have two nominees for the position and they will remain on the ballot unless they have changed their minds based on the combination of the positions.
