See what happens when you don't think...

Whoa! That was a very close call on the Angels. Sorry for the C. robustus BT loss. And I never knew snails could carry ich. Something good to know. However, in my tank, my Lunare Wrasse would have eaten the snails as soon as they got in the tank. Do not know if that would prevent an outbreak of ich. It would of turbos!

Sincerely,
Matthew

Thanks Stacy, yes, it was a relief to see them looking, acting and eating normal again as of last night.

Matthew, when I say the snails carried ich, I don't mean in the literal sense. Just that the ich must have been in the water that the snails were in. While I didn't dump the water into the tank, I didn't rinse the snails off either. So whatever tiny about of water was on the snails when they went in was the issue. Therefore I don't think a wrasse eating the actual snail would have changed anything in this situation.

On another note, with practically all the rock removed, it's shocking to see how big these fish have grown over the years. Looking at the tank now, I can't imagine putting any more rock in there! That 240g can't get done fast enough, I tell you!!

I'm stressing while reading this, glad to hear things are turning around, except for the Robustus, what a loss!

Where did you buy the snails from, online, lfs?

I will always QT my inverts from now on, thank you for sharing.

They came from a LFS.

Haha, I refuse to buy any livestock from my LFS. I have seen ich-infested fish in their tanks so many times that I refuse to buy from them. I only buy fish from LiveAquaria and Vivid Aquariums. I like their guarantees which my LFS does not have. I will buy frags from locals reefers, frag swaps, etc, but they have to get a full quarantine before going into my main tank.
