Seeding dried live rock

So how long does it take to restore dried live rock to viable "live rock." I am planning on starting a smaller tank and if possible, I would like to seed some old dried love rock to use as live rock for the new tank. Any experience?

well for the bacteria to come back, that will be relatively short compaired to how long it will take for all the inverts and worms and whatnot to grow in the rock

I'm thinking that for the bacteria to come back it may take around 4-6 weeks...about the time it would take for a tank to cycle...for all the worms and stuff...probably a few months. I put some completely dry lace rock in my 55 with the same amount of live rock..the lace rock isnt any different than the live now, and its loaded with all sorts of pods, worms, even corals and stuff that just popped up that i never even put there...must have come from the other rock i guess.

I'm doing this right now. I took some live rock out of my fuge and put the live dry rock in a rubbermade tub together with a powerhead and a heater. its pretty much like curing live rock. It does take about 2-4 weeks.

I made most of the rock for my tank with concrete, I think I'm in week 5 of curing. Someone that live near by gave me a couple of pieces of live rock from his tank to help me start to cycle mine. I've seen a couple of diffrent "bugs" starting to live on my rocks, but I havn't really had any corelline algea yet though. So with a little patients you it will become live
