Seio 2600s

Yes im crazy, Im thinking about two seio 2600s for my 75 gallon tank. It will be a mixed reef and I do have a small sandbed but my plan is to put them in the middle of the tank on both sides and have them point upward a little so I don't have sandbed problems. Thoughts? Anyone have pictures of 2600s they have in their tank?

i have 2 1500's in my 125 and they blow sand everywhere, i bought 4 and only used 2 because of the sand being blown everywhere. people keep telling me my sand will settle but i dont see how it is gonna settle anymore than it already is, in my opinion i thing 2 2600's in a 75 would be crazy

I have 2 of the 2600's in my 90 bb

and they move alot of water you may have problems with the sand

here's some pics for size referance
the little seio's in the front are 620's and the one in the back corners are the 2600's

I would not do it unless you have a BB tank. I have a dsb in a 75G and I have to dial back one of my two seio 820"s or I experience a continuous sandstorm. (My return pump adds another 600 gph). There is no way you will be able to run 2600's in a tank with a sandbed IMO.

It would be rather easy to remove the sand because I dont have much in there so would you say go on ahead and get rid of the sand?

If you were adding the 2600's to an established tank with a sand bed I would say it would be possible with some trial and error with flow direction etc. A new sand bed would probably blow around quite a bit for quite some time and may never have the opportunity to settle down.

I have 2 1100's, a mag 9.5 return that is probably around 500 GPH after head loss, a maxi jet 1200, and another powerhead that pumps around 200 GPH in my 75 with a sand bed. My sand does not move at all and I could still up the flow and I don't think the sand would move at all.

Craig, I've got 2 820s, a 900gph return pump, and a maximod (1500+gph) all in my 58.

Its all about where theyre pointing.

That's impressive Rich. Maybe my experience is different because I put those powerheads in a new tank set-up. I guess there hasn't been enough time for bacteria to bond with the entire sandbed. It's also 4-6" deep. Your post gives me hope that I can run both at full power at some point in the future.

Thats probably it. Mine was a mess until I added some rock, and gave it some time for the bacteria to spread in the bed. Its southdown too.

2600s though..those are biiiiiiig pumps.

seio has a nice stream to it.Yes its powerfull but I find it doesn't have a small exit point like maxi jets. Its a very quiet pump. The only draw back is that these pumps are not used with a wavemaker. If you want pumps for that you have to buy maxi jets (witch do wear down and make cliking noise)You can get the Aqua medic pumps with there wavemaker,Tunze is good but you have to buy the models that are used with wavemakers. They are the ones that costs the most$Tuze controlloer with 2 pumps will cost you $500 if not more

i have a 90-100 gallon. I am buying 2 6000s with a controler from marine dep for like 750 or something like that. Shipping is free on it. 2 6100s and controler are about 900, but they are a little 2 powerful for my 100 I think.

I have no idea, I dont even know exactly what will be the difference or if they will be like the streems or if they are something different.

I just dropped in 2 2600's in 125g (6 feet) and it is perfect for flow set up. They are huge though. I have a sandbed and it does not stir it up, it is established however.
