Seio Controller, why so expensive???? RANT beware:)

I dont think it would reduce the noise, but I use the suction cup holders and I added additional support to the brackets by using plastic straps.

I drilled 2 small holes on the molding lip and passed the straps through this way it does not slip and the suction cups must reduce the vibrations cause I just went to listen and all I here is the hum of the controller ramping up and down.

By the way is this Pat? same avatar as a friend of mine on another forum?

Maybe your onto something with the suction cups to stop the vibrations. I have my 3 seios glued onto mag floats, surely all the vibrations are ringing right through and using the tank to amplify the noise:( Maybe I should put something in between the tank and the magfloat? What would I use?..

The avatar doesnt lie:D

LOL I figured as much with the surfer dude,

Try some thin felt not to thick it may do the trick.

Green thumb...

The hydor koralias are absolutely silent right after the initial start up. Very impressive pumps. You might consider selling your seios and getting a few of the Hydors.

They come with magnet mounts as well and are more maneuverable than the seios.

John are you reading my mind? I plan on getting rid of all the Seio's in my tank except maybe one and replacing them with Koralia 4's. The Koralia 4's only use 12 watts each. That means I can run 4 of them on each plug and still be safe if you consider the 2600 runs at 55 watts. So I can control 8 of the Koralia 4's on one Seio controller.

for what its worth......i was running a tunze 6060 not listed as one of the streams that u can get with a controller and 2 seio 1500's. i aquired a seio controller and when it went from 100% to 50% the seio's started making that rocks in a blender sound....i gave it a few minutes and they would'nt get better ......i tought going with the seio controller would at least work well with these pumps, i ended up connecting my tunze 6060 to it instead and it works fine at both speeds.

Hehe. :) All I know is that silence is golden and we always want more of it!

Let us know how it goes. 8 koralia 4s?!? 9600+ gph is quite a bit of flow for any tank under 150 gallons.

How large of a tank are you going to put all of these guys on?

Your lucky you've got the 4' of that 75... I feel like I can't do that because of the dimensions of my 60 gallon cube.

I think a 120 upgrade is in the future. :)

Cheers,
John H.

Are you wanting to get rid of the seios because theyre too noisy?

I also like the sound of the silent Koralia pumps:)

If I understand correctly you get the clacking sound (sound also heard on startup of these pumps) when the contloller ramps the PHs down to 50%!!! That is increadible!

Thanks very much for sharring the info on your experiments using the seio controller and Seio as well as the 6060tunze.

Now tell me guys, are you all getting the same results with your seio controller and pumps?

Well the controller isnt that bad after all if it can run a Tunze pump well :p

Well GT, you will defintly have to come over and see and hear for yourself cause I have no Clacking or anything else that can make me honestly say the Seios troublsome, although the Korralias do look nice.

I don't have any noise issues with them. I do have a problem heat though. If I can move the same amount of water with half the wattage and heat then I'm all for it.

yep ... the clapping sound at start up usually last a second or two but on the controller it went on for about a minute before i decided that was enough time to fix itself and it did'nt. i am going to try an additional 6060 to see if theres is any diff when running both. i will update post at a later time.

I realy think I have to take you up on the offer Rob. PM me to let me know when I could go over to check out the controller and how it works. THis way Ill get to check out your whole system as well:D

Koralias do sound good. Have you seen them yet Rob?

Saltwatersig, I hear you with the heat issues, Ive got that same problem right now, Id like to add a 2nd MH over my tank but feel like I cant because itll overheat for sure. I guess 12watts for 1200gph is prety good now that I look at it that way.

Does anybody have a clue what wattage the Koralias pull when theyve been modded to push 2000gph?

Yeah... the guy who found out it was 12 watts for the koralia 4 with stock impeller also modded it and found out it was 15 watts once modded. :)

Cheers,
John H.

I modded my K4 with a MJ1200 magnet and Octura 1240 prop heavily trimmed, it now draws 15W and I can't say the flow is more than 1,500gph.

I don't know why no one has tried the Seio controller with a Tunze 6025 yet. A modded 6025 pumps out 1,250gph, consumes only 7W and is half the size of a K4, yet in the same price range. Am I missing something?
