SEIO SUPER FLOW Club!

I just bought a pair of Seio 1100's. I wanted to start this tread so everyone that has or is interested in the Seio super flow powerheads can post questions or input about them.

Do any of you know the best placement/mounting area for them? I would like to know where to put them. Also what model is best for what size tank? Please post some pics if you have any.

Are their any mods for them? What are common benefits and disadvantages of these units?

Thanks,
Jason

I've got two of the 1500's in my 125g tank.
They flow a lot of water......I likey!!

Here's an old pic showing the placement......One is facing higher than the other so the flow doesn't collide....

I have 2 1500's on my tank and they work great! I also have the two 620's I started with in my display that are now in my sump with some maxitjets. The only thing I didn't like about the small ones was that they didn't restart if the power was stopped and I'd have to bring them up to the surface to get running full blast again.

I picked up an 1100 last weekend for my 90, it moves quite a bit of water. I have it about 5-6 inches from the waters surface and it is able to create a whirlpool effect and suck air in every hour or more, so I may need to move it down or angle it differently.

The bigger ones suck really hard so you will need to put it lower in the water to stop the air problem.....Or turn it down a little.

i put a small piece of electrical tape on the top of the grill so that it covers 2 or 3 of the holes.

you won't get any more air suctions after that and i'm pretty sure it doens't effect the flow rate or damage the pump in any way

I have three 820's and a 620. I am very happy with them. The only bad thing so far is that one of my pumps vibrates a bit and is not silent. The other three are. I am end up getting a replacement to fix the problem. I have two if them mounted Tunze style hanging from the top frame, and two using the suction cup method. Both methods have been working fine for several months now. I also removed the flow collars off all of them to maximize flow. Mine do need to be clean about once a month or so, and all of them restart if the power goes out so far.

I am going to mount them tunze style, but I am not sure what mounting kit I will use. I am just sick of the crappy suction cups on my MJ's. They always fall. Is There a mod to do the tunze magnet? It looks like their are a ton of mounting options:D

have a few 620's and one 820, only have one of them that work now, one 620 runs soo out of balance that it looks like it is missing half the impeller, the other one just wont run anymore, but i do still have a 820 that still works, that and the 2600 that i quickly sold. but they do work well for what they do.

Great tip!:smokin:
I was wondering how to fix that problem.

i have a seio 820 in my 55 right now, that i have turned down, only the top and bottom holes are sucking. ive been killing snails left in right though. anyone have a problem like this when its in full blast and totally open? i cant run it like that now, alot of my soft and lps corals dont seem to like it much.

They will be going into a 100 soon, shouldnt have that problem.

great buy for the price,
I have 2 620's in a 94 corner, mounted tunze style in the front corners
I had to balance 1 to stop the vibrating

now I just need to wait for Santa to get some for my other tank

I've got a 2600 in our 150 - and I'd love to get another (and no, I'm not an SPS guy, just softies and LPS for me). I think they are a great value, and they kick butt too.

Mounted ala Tunze in the right corner. If I got another one, it'd go on the other side, aiming lower.

With proper aiming of teh Seio's, you should be fine. Also, if you're thinking about going BB, then you'll defnitely be fine.

HTH,
Dave
