Hippo tangs would first need to be CB in any numbers that could do this. Right now, not possible.

This reminds me of a special I saw about domesticating foxes. I think it took place in Russia. Within 50 years through selective breeding they successfully domesticated foxes, and even had some color and pattern variants appear.
