just before going to bed I turned on the room lights to check on my reef tank. To my surprise I saw many (30+) tiny pod like figures floating in the water.
After some inspection - I believe it to be some sort of shrimp.
In my reef tank, I only have corals, 2 clowns, 1 cleaner shrimp, snails and hermit crabs.
With this- I concluded it to be baby cleaner shrimps - I have seen my cleaner shrimp carrying eggs many times.
It puzzled me though - I cannot imagine a cleaner shrimp being able to self reproduce. Has anyone else had experience with this?
While my cleaner shrimp has carried eggs many times, it is the first time I've ever noticed tiny shrimp creatures in my tank. It is also however the first time my reef tank jumped from 78F to 82F (high summer temperature today). The last time the shrimp carried eggs must have been over a week ago.
Has anyone had experience with this? I'm puzzled- either I have the first self breeding creature on earth or something wierds happening.
