I just installed a new semi closed loop system in my reef. 10 dollars in PVC!
I had a problem with overflowing my sump and needed to raise the levels of the returns.. I used 2 90's and 2 t's, and plumbed a manifold with 6 outlets, 4 t's and 2 90's with 45's
It seems to work pretty well... My system had just graduated to flow problems again before I did this, and I had just lost my yellow tabling mille for it grew into the flow of my seio,... and started to Stn... then rtn.
The manifold is not above the glass, it is against the back wall.. And it seems that I am getting 3-400 gph out of all of the outlets...
The corals seem pretty happy, and I also have more room to add more corals.
I thought about using 2 seaswirls, but I had too much flow from my pump, then I reread calfos section on manifolds, and just did it..
The best part about it is since I raised my outlets to the level of my overflows... My Sump NEVER overflows anymore!
My wife is very happy about this.
I have 4 frags saved of the mille, but will probably reposition the purple slimer to the place of the mille.
The bigger the corals get the harder the flow problems seem to be,....
