Sentinel for red bugs

Yay, yes Tek! I hope so! I will take a better look today :0)

Bubblewood, I have the tanks in disarray right now so no pics. Sorry. I decided to also do the Bayer dip treatment as I'm unsure if there are flatworms and/or Nudi's. I have moved all SPS's to the 40B which resulted in the DT torn apart ;9( I figured it was best to treat for everything I could instead of treating for RB's and a few weeks later finding out there were flatworms. The SPS's are going through h#*l right now but so many were in bad shape, if they make it through this, then they can make it through almost everything.

By the way, I have dipped my frags in CoralRX (when I received them) before placing them into QT. I used one of my tanks for a frag tank so I am now in the process of getting another QT/hospital. Just goes to show that bugs can enter our tanks easily ;9(

I'm having red bug issues and was hoping I could use Sentinel for my tank. I dont have shrimp and only a few hermits. mostly snails, so they should be fine. My concern is my large derasa clam. Anyone have any ill effects on clams with this treatment? Also what directions should I follow as far as how much to put in and what things to turn off etc.

Treatment #2 underway. As posted above, I have not seen any RB's since the first treatment :0) Not going to risk having stragglers so will do full course of treatment suggested ...

I have the large dog (50-100 lbs,23.0 mg/460 mg) sentinel pill. I have a 60+10g tank. How much should I use? would a 1/4 pill be enough to treat my tank?

Mine were gone after one 12 hour treatment. Did my water change at 1 am last night and didnt see a single one.

edit: also I have the 11-25 dog pills. Used two for 11.5g which may have been a little much but I didn't want to take any chances

What tab size did you get terri ann?

Sorry it took so long Andy for my reply. Been swamped with Christmas stuff. Anyway, I used the Tab for large dogs. If/when you get them, you can use the edge of a teasoopn and easily scrape off the flavor coating  The Tab will easily mash then to a fine powder. I know someone said they rinsed the coating off but I didn't want water to dissolve any of it.;)

Just finished reading the posts... Sounds like you killed them. Don't be fooled if you think they are killed with the first dose! I saw some amphipods still alive after my 1st treatment...they should have died. I have NOT seen any RB's, copepods or amphipods since the second treatment. My third dose is due on Christmas day which I will do late. I just don't want to risk having missed anything.

Merry Christmas Tek and "Thank You!" for the instruction!!!

I'm doing a second dose this coming weekend! I think I may have dosed significantly more than you did hahaha all 4 of my hermits were dead after just 8 hours. I had the 11-25 pound dog pills, and used 2 for a total of 11.5g of M. Oxime

Sentinel is a confirmed kill for me. So far, 1 day in, it appears to be a 100% substitute for Interceptor. I took all the few crabs and shrimp out, but no sight of any red bugs or pods in my QT tank. The few frags that I had in this tank sent me a Christmas Card as a thank you gift.

I would treat Sentinel as a exact replacement for Interceptor - dosage and all.

Started to dose my big tank this morning around 7 am with sentinel, scrapped the flavor coating off and dosed about 2/3rds of a tab to the 120. after a couple of hours the few hermits left were dead and now the shrimp are too. Everything else seems to be going good. I have a hard time seeing the red bugs so I am hoping it will take care of them. I had one of my local reef guys verify that I had them in the first place...
