Separate businesses?

I wasn't going to bother, but my curiosity is getting the better of me:

Are Marine Depot and Marine Depot Live separate businesses? If so, why?

Wouldn't it be easier for people to be able to place a single online order for both livestock and dry goods (shipped as separate packages, of course), rather than have to do that by telephone? And wouldn't it be more convenient for the customer if gift certificates were transferable between the two "entities?"

Thank you for your post, Yes, Marine Depot and Marine Depot Live are separate business. Due to that Marine Depot live is run thru the Yahoo store accounting software, we are unable to combine live and Dry good orders. This will also be the same with gift certificates, they are not transferable between both companies. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you for clarifying the reason behind the limitations! I have always enjoyed doing business with Marine Depot - with the exception of the occasional technicality!
