I am new to this forum but have been on 3reef for about 3 years. This forum seems to have a lot of people knowledgeable on cuttlefish. I want to do this cuttlefish in my tank. I plan on ordering 3 eggs from NY aquatics as soon as I have everything sorted out and planned. I know they are known absolutely not to be able to go with tank mates. I want them to live in my 75 gallon reef that will have SPS and softies that dont sting. Currently in that tank I have a dwarf lion fish, blue tang, and yellow tang. Would these fish absolutely have to go. I dont think the cuttlefish would be able to catch them or dumb enough to go after the lionfish but could they cause it to ink. They seem very peaceful now but what are your opinions? I will be raising the cuttlefish in a nursery then my 37 gallon fuge but I want to bring them up to the reef eventually. Opinions? If I have to I will sell the fish but I really dont want to.

they will eat the tangs or just kill them out of teritorial dominance, they can shoot out their tenticles so fast you won't even see it happen. as for the lion fish since they have probably never seen one before it's just another swiming meal to them and they will probably attack it and injure themselvs doing so.
also the hatchlings need live mysids for food, they will die if feed brine shrimp instead.

Yea I know how to feed them and everything. I have done loads of research was just wondering if there was any possibility of keeping them with the tangs. I might just keep them in the 37 gallon fuge since it will be a display fuge on a stand. I exspect 1 or 2 of the 3 eggs to live.

i have read that 2 is max for a 30g and you can add another for every 10gall after that, but the wrighter(thales) also said that he was going to try 3 in a 30 and see if it works out. it probably depends on the cuttles if they fell overcrowded they will fight.

Ok hopefully it works out. If they seem to feel overcrowded Ill take out some rocks or something. I will build individual caves for each of them.
