Ive recently moved into a new house and have a septic tank.totally new concept for me since ive been used to being on city sewage my whole life. My plans are to install a sink in my fishroom for cleaning and water change purposes, but im a bit reluctant of dumping saltwater into me septic tank.Anyone familiar with this? Is it ok for me to do this,or would i be better off running a drain to the back of my property and just letting it dump on the ground? Im worried that the saltwater will kill the bacteria or something in my septic tank.

Well I've read an average septic tank system can handle a few hundred gallons of saltwater a month.. I've never really wanted to take the chance though.. I've got a mop sink in my fish room.. I use to wash stuff from the tank, dump the skimmer cups. I do poor probably 20 gallons or so a month down the drain.. But when I do a water change I run a line out to a patch of Gravel to drain all the saltwater..

6 yrs here, no problems. You might call a septic tank company and ask them if you have doubts. I would be interested in their answer.
