serial to comp connection?

I just picked up aquanotes to help me with setting up my ACII. I called MD and they only have the serial to db9 pin. The problem that i have is my lap top doesnt have a db9 output, it only has was looks like db15?, circle hole with what looks like can take 4 pins at most?, printer port and two USB. Do you sell a cable that goes from serial to usb? Can someone point me in the right direction?

Get a Serial to USB cable, Radio Shack has them for 40, or you can find them online for less.

Be sure to get the right serial end on the cable.

FYI - you will also need to correct the COM within aquanotes when doing this.

found mine( serial to usb) online for aroung 15.00 can't remember where though. maybe cables to go?

I just checked ebay and dang they got a bunch of everything i dont need. I also checked out radio shack and they didnt have any either. Im gonna check frys today and hopefully they got it. I was told serial to usb isnt in much demand and probably would have better luck going to a comp store and order one. Hopefully ill find somthing soon.

sorry but im alittle confused here. I need a plug that can go directly into my AC. Is my AC outdated cause it has a small round serial port not a square port. All i can find is USB standard port into a square serial port???? Sorry, but i know nothing of computers, im lucky im able to get onto RC, lol.

whoops I assumed you already had the cable that connects the aquacontroller to the pc. you would need the mindin 8 to db9 cable as well. if you are handy there is a FAQ section on neptune's site that tells you how you can make one of these cables.

ahhhh, thats what i was looking for. I must of missed the info on the site. I have been walking through all kinda stores walking around with a AC in my hand and was giving a odd look when i asked for a serial to fit into my AC, lol. Im gonna check there site out and if it looks too complicated ill just get the cable from hd and convert from there. I just thought i could find a straight hook up instead of this and that.
