Set up my 30 tall.

I had an extra 30 gal tall sitting in the garage so I finally set it up. Pretty happy with it so far. I'm hoping to eventually get the fake sponges out once the macro grows in but for now the seahorses seem to prefer them. Got these seahorses a few months ago from Seahorse Source.

Nice horses and you look like you are off to a great start. Smart move getting your beautiful seahorses from a quality breeder like Seahorse Source. They look similar to my horses that were 5th generation bred from Seahorse Source stock.See pix

Those do look pretty similar. My yellow male has some algae growing on it but it's starting to fall off. The female seems to be losing some of its cirri. Im hoping at least some stays with it. They don't seem to want to eat out of the new feeding dish since the transfer but I'm sure they'll come around.

Mine were slow at first to eat from a feeding dish but they came around. Now as soon as they see the acrylic tube i use the squirt the mysis down into the feeding dish, they come runnin'!

Mine come for the tube but they seem to be not willing to travel more than a few inches to get to it. So unless they are near the dish I have to squirt a few out for them at a time.

It wont be long and they will be sitting in or near the feeding dish at meal time. That is what mine do with a pathetic 'I am about to perish for hunger!' look in their eyes, haha!

Your tank looks great. I dont mind the fake sponge look and your seahorses seem to like them. You have some nice looking macro in there as well!

Beautiful seahorses, love the color and cirri. The female looks like the one pictured on the welcome page of Seahorse Source!

Tank looks great.... as others have said .. they will come around... mine are P -I-G pigs!... they will come to the glass anytime you walk by and surf up and down the front "dancing' for dinner( or breakfast lunch or snack).... and should they be napping or hiding in the caves they come a running when I shut down the pumps..

pfan151, I am beginning to think that there are advantages for the seahorse's health to keep a tank more like yours with some attractive artificial sponges and perhaps just accessorize with a few live coral. A display reef with lots of coral and macro is added maintenance to assure that detritus is not being caught anywhere and fueling dangerous bacteria.

Yea, I probably won't end up changing much. Probably just a couple more gorgonians.

Algae finally dyed off on the male. Really like the white bands on this guy. LEDs seem to make taking decent pictures impossible though. I'm hoping I'm not too far off from breeding and fry. Just picked up a chiller for the fry tank when the time comes.

He is more mature looking already and has fattened up nicely. Does he follow her around?

They tend to hang out together but I haven't seen anything that has me thinking they'll be breeding soon yet. The female is a little more reclusive than the male.

Hmmm, maybe she is a bit younger than him. If I recall, she had lots of nice cirri, but they generally lose that as they leave adolescence. Give them time.
