Hi all. So I had plansto setup my old20high last winter, but thingscame up that prevented me from doing so. Well, thisweekend will bemy official new start dateon theproject. I know that the tank needs a really good cleaning and re siliconed around the top rim, so that will be first. I have a 5g bucket of old sand that never got washed, so I need to clean that very well too. Anyone have any tips for that? I was planning on just using half of it and running a garden hose into the bucket for a few hours to flush it out. are there any tricks for cleaning sand?
As far as equipment, I have an old current t5 fixture, but one ballast is burnt out, so I will only be running 2 bulbs for now. I have a complete t5 24" retrofit kit with waterproof endcaps, ice cap 660 ballast, and 4 new ATI bulbs. The light will have to be a project that I complete lateron. I have a bunch of different koralliapowerheads that will all soak in vinegar for a day or so, and i have lots and lots of rock that needs cleaned up too.
I'm planning on an hob overflow to a sump for a fuge, or hob fuge. Probably no skimmed unless i come across a good deal. It will definitely be a process to get the setup how I want it, but im excited to get started this weekend. I'll try and get some pictures up as the progress gets underway.
Also, after Xmas I'm wanting to set up a 15g column tank with a par38 and hob skimmer. One thing at a time though, I don't want to get in over my head and have a ton of loose ends!
