We have a well established 55 with sump, and are now looking to explore the micro tank realm. We bought a 4 gallon pico that has been running for 2 months with rock and sand according to the previous owner. There is supposedly snails in it but we cant see any. There is copepods in the sump area. We tested water params and the calcium is low but otherwise Phosphate and Nitrate are near zero.
I was thinking of throwing in a damsel to test the waters so to speak. We would just use the damsel to establish the tank then take it back the LFS. Is there something else that may be better to establish the tank that we may want long term in the tank?
We would eventually like to have some sexy shrimp and two pipe fish in the tank, some LPS corals and some inverts. What kind of cleanup crew should we start out with?
