setting up a QT

In the past, the only QT's I've used have been for new fish, so I've had time to set them up in advance. Now I need to remove all of my fish to treat them for ich (and possibly velvet too). I have a blue tang, firefish, two relatively small maroon clowns, blue-spotted watchman goby, radiant wrasse and yellow coris wrasse. How big of a QT do I need to hold all of them for a month or so? Also, I have a fairly large filter sock on my tank (approx. 8"X12"). If I put this into the new QT with a small powerhead directed into it, is that likely to provide enough bacteria to keep the ammonia levels down? If not, is there anything else I can do to speed up the cycling process so that I can start treating these guys?

Depends on how big the fish are (especially the tang) and perhaps how aggressive the clowns are.

Is there anyway you can utilize your 40 gallon tanks as a QT (have to disconnect it from the main tank)?
