Setting up a quarentine questions

Ok just looking for a little advice on what direction I should take a quarentine tank, after just losing 3 new fish , and dumping a ton of money on my 28 gallon. Its time to get more serious and realize that not qting can have disastorous results.

Was thinking A 10 gallon with a korelia nano power head and a small heater, And perhaps attaching a coralife light fixture I have with a modified ac 70 for lower flow.

How long should I run the lights if i do at all ?
Should i get some plastic plants for cover ?
Should I run anything in the ac 70 ?
What meds / nutrition suppliments should I have on hand ?

Do i need to leave this running as Ive read that stuff you put in them kills the cycle bacteria anyways or just fill up when I get new arrivals .

you need some biological filtration seeing as the fish will be in quarentine for anywhere up to 2 weeks...you could get away with a simple hang on the back with biomedia

My QT setup.

20g tank, small heater, Marineland power head with filter, thermo, and Ammonia badge.

I added a small submersable pump for waterchanges (out) and I have my Mix tank (Brute) plumbed so I can add to the QT as well.

oh, and I QT for 4 wks. Typically my LFS runs the Fish Only tanks at 1.015. I maintain this level for 1 week and then slowly raise the level to 1.025. Using a QT you will need to test params frequently and correct with waterchanges. Depending on the fish load you may need to do weekly 25% changes. I have an Ammonia badge to constantly monitor.
