setting up another FO

I just purchased a used 75 and I'm thinking of making it a FO. I found 2 bags of southdown playsand in a closet and I'm going to use it for the substrate. I remember a few years ago it was considered the greatest thing since sliced bread. Is it as good as everyone believed back then?

Any type of play sand can be used as substrate as long as it is thoroughly rinsed and free of debris. This sand, once cured will become "live" over time. The "live" sand you buy speeds up this process but as long as you cycle the tank following proper procedure and livestock addition the sand will doquite nicely. Best of luck to you.
