setting up clown fish tank

ok as i am in the process of building a new tank 3x2x22" with a 8 bulb t5 lighting, after seeing a nem tank with 6 different species or more of clowns in it i fell in love, ive done sps for last couple of yr's and even though sps are my fav i really want to try something different. looking at either true percs or onyx, i have a pair of black percs ive had for a yr now and want to keep them, was thinking of adding 4-6 clowns besides them to tank at same time, will also have my pair of yellow watchman gobies and was thinking of a group of cardinals, can i add different clowns with my blacks ? plan on adding a carpet and maybe a couple of rbta's and gbta's. ty rick

The tank you saw must have been very unprofessionally set up. Only one type of clown per tank. Otherwise they would all kill each other! Anyways, what is an 8 bulb? Never heard that term. Start with BTA. Carpets IMO are the hardest nems to keep from what I've heard. How many gallons is the tank? If it is pretty big, you might be able to keep a family of 5 clowns in there. But that would be pretty hard finding a family or trying to make your own... so just stick to ONE PAIR!

i had a carpet in my cube with no problem. 8 bulb t5 36" tek fixture. and it's atlantis marine world in long island ny

tank is 80g 3'x2'x22"
start term bta ? rose bubble tip anenome = rbta
same for green = gbta
ive kept my black occ witha wild true perc now for a few months together

Percula and Ocellaris can live together like single species, but I would not add other species. In a tank that small , you can only have one female and one male clown. You may have other juvies but more than two adults, or more than one female will kill each other

I suggest you buy and read Clownfishes by Joyce Wilkerson. It's excellent.
