Setting up my new 90g AGA MegaFlow

Hi Everyone, I finally got a bigger tank and will be posting pictures of my setup along the way. I currently have a 55g Marine Acylic that is very full and needed something bigger, especially for my Dori (Blue Tang). I am going to be doing something a bit different with this tank, so we will see how it turns out with some of the things I am trying. The basic setup will be similar to my 55g as far as sump/refuge, filtering and power heads.

Here is my current 55g tank that I will be moving a lot of this stuff over to the new 90g.

Here is the 90g AGA MegaFlow tank and the project aquascaping design I am thinking of. I want to leave a lot of open swimming room for the schooling fish like the Blue Eyed Cardinals that will be in this tank. I am really hoping for everything to go well and have a smooth transition to this tank.

Can't wait to see what you do with this one. I am finishing the stand for my 135 this week and hopefully will be setting up by the end of the month. I am using bird's eye maple for the stand (ply). I look foward to seeing your tank. Are your getting a bigger sump? I will be using my 55gal as a fuge / sump.

I will still be using my same 20H sump/refuge for this tank with my Euroreef Skimmer. My sump/refuge has pods and shrimp all over the place and I don't want to lose out on that. My current stuff should work fine on the 90g which is why I chose the 90g.

I will be doing a lighting switchover sometime down the line, probably to a 6 bulb T5 setup, but the current 4 bulb setup will be great until I can switch over. I sold my Derasa and may not be doing clams in this tank, I want to try and get a Majestic Angel adapted to my reef setting. This will require it to get use to feeding on my frozen mix as well as my formula two flake and seaweed. After it has adapted and doesn't seem to be nipping on corals (hopefully), I may try a clam or two again.

Good luck on your setup!I am getting ready to restart my 90gal too.I just moved from Virginia to Arizona,and had to leave behind all my critters,but brought the tank.When I purchased mine it did'nt come with a glass top.Hmm?Anyway,I also have a 20gal sump and a asm gx1 skimmer.I have the substrate and salt ready to go.I'm just waiting on new ro filters and then I'll be set.

I just finished moving my 20g over to my new 90g. I LOVE swimming space for fish, and was sure to include plenty in my tank.

I'd strongly suggest you reconsider the aquascaping that you illustrated though - unless it's just decieving it looks like you're going to have it resting on the side glass?

Yes, it sort of will be resting on the side glass.

Is that side glass against a wall or visable?

If it's against a wall - or the tank's going to be "in-wall" then who cares.

If it's out in the room - the coralline and buildup around that rock formation will drive you nuts.

I have painted the left side and back black, because the left side will be against the wall. I will only be cleaning the front and right side of coraline algae.

Here is the frame of the new stand, it will be 35" tall which is great for easy viewing of the tank. I just hate it when you have to bend over a lot to view a tank or get on your knees while looking around. Alba, our foreign exchange student from Madrid Spain is helping me make this stand, she is in the last picture.

Looks good so far, I see you have most of the 90 gallon crew here to help you out with tips and such. I am part of the 75 crew. I am curious what the tank will look like with t-5's in such a deep tank.
