im setting up a new tank and was wondering if i had natures ocean live sand straight from the ocean and real ocean water if it would cycle faster and i could add corals faster. it will be all ocean supplies. think it will work?

Not sure if the l/s or water help too much but adding live rock will speed up the process. I added 6 gallons of water from my 29g tank to my sons 10g along with 10lbs of live rock and the tank cycled in a week. Just make sure you check the levels and even after it cycles go slow and don't add too much too soon.

If your 6lbs of live rock is fully cured your cycle should in no way take 4 to 8 weeks. Like I said I added 10lbs of fully cured rock with water from my existing tank and it went thru a mini cycle and it took only a week.

that would be great! i havent completely given in to the 10 gallon yet. i may still try to work things out with my 20 as i was just told that my alkalinity was just too high thats all. but im going to work my was up from zoas and then move to lps. if i cant keep zoas.....then ill start the 10 gallon and wait out the cycle.
