Setting up new Saltwater setup,
Looking to keep anything that does not need Metal Halides(Yet).

Would Like comments, Good,Bad, or Ugly. Better to know before spending more $'s than I need to.
Setup design due to not being able to drill holes in bottom of tank or fit 20 gal tank under stand.

See My Gallery for Pictures

Diagram for Saltwater system. Main tank is 30 gallon sitting on top of stand.
“Sump” is 20 Gal Tank sitting on floor behind the stand.

Talk to (PM) Justin74 about using T5's. My understanding is that they produce almost as much light as MH's and you can keep all but the most light demanding coral using them. He is our resident expert on T5's.

With PCs I have been able to keep the following very sucessfully

Xenias
Brown Green polyps
Mushrooms
Branching hammer corals
Rose bubble tip annemome

Most of these were going great with only a 4x36w PC system and did even better with a 4x65w PC system.

I am sure more do well also but really all i have in the tank. Granted now with the MH everything is REALLY growning big now also. Most member tanks I have seen without MH are running T5 and they have everything I have as well and really thriving as well.

I too have PC's: four 55 or 65W PC usually 50/50 (10K white/actinic) in a 50 gal glass.

I've been sucessfully keeping the same as Avalance Wolf as well as frogspawn, candycane, Nepthia, zoa's, cool green sponge, and lettuce leather off the top of my head.

From your photos, how do you plan to protect the main's drilled exits from sucking fish, etc down the tube?

Hey Doug

GARF (www.GARF.org) did a setup where they grew SPS under SO florescent lighting. You might want to search their site for it.

I had real good SPS growth with 440 watts of VHO on an 80 gal tank. I didn't have any acros but my porites and pavona did well.
