Does anyone have any ideas how I could go about trying to sex a tigerpyge?
I currently have one which I have owned for around 18 months and is 2.5-3 inches. I have the chance to purchase another one that is around the same size & has been in captivity for around the same amount of time. Both fish are the dominant fish in their tanks & due to their small size I assume both are still juveniles/females, but could they have already turned male since they have been in captivity for some time? I would like to try to pair them up & ideally would want a fish smaller than the one I own, but none of a decent quality have come up for sale in 18 months.
The plan is to separate the tank, or put the new fish in an acrylic container & see how my current fish reacts but if the thinking is both are already male & likely to end badly then I wont attempt it.
Tank is a 4x2x2 with other inhabitants being 2 anampses femininus, 1 x 2 inch convict tang (just added) & 1 male mandarine.
