Sexing fu's?

What Sherri sez...D. biocellatus is not sexually dimorphic/dichromic, and to make matters worse, it is probably THE worst lionfish in terms of "non-paired" species aggression, even in larger systems.

im not trying to pair fu's. i would be more comfortable with a female with my fuzzy in a new tank. just wondering if i can thats all.

Actually Greg I must have 2 females as they seem okay. The smaller ones stays hidden more but the aggression is very mild. I am sure if it was 2 males I would have had to remove one by now. DoubleM 10 -- you are worried that two males won't get along from different species? I actually don't think it matters does it? Greg? Frank?

i hope so. my tank just got the inverts in it yesterday. snails, emeralds, and turbos.

i want all to get along for the rest of the tank life lol

IME, fu's pretty much keep to themselves being bottom dwellers, and they don't seem to bother other bottom-dwelling species as well.

There are a few folks here that have mixed a fu, a fuzzy, and a zebra with good success. In fact, depending on how solidly your fu feeds, it may suffer in food competition, or it may step up to the "challenge". We target feed our multiples, so each fish gets its share.

well lets hope so. im going to to qt the fu to make sure eating agressive.

my last set of lions fought because they were both males

i just dont want another fight to happen in the new tank lol

fish fighting=pain in the a**

just trying to avoid problems if possible

2 fuzzy lions.

my thinking now is that they were both male. one beat the other one almost till death(tattered fins, laying on the bottom, lost all colorand would not eat) so i called all my buddies until i found one with a spare tank and moved the beat one to thier and nursed back to health. now he has a 55gal long to share with new tankmates

i was new at the time. now i have read alot more and asked alot of questions.

thats why i wanna see if possible to tell the sex of the fu man chu.
