Sexual Maturity Ages for Different Species

Does anyone know, or can anyone link me to an article explaining the breeding sizes/ages (eggs and sperm) for T. crocea, T. maxima, and T. derasa? I'd really appreciate it. I've been searching, but I can't seem to find all of them.

Thanks,

it varies by individual clam / environment, they become male first then over time female but i don't think there's a set time for either change to take place.

I was reading an article on small scale breeding of clams, and it got me curious. Because I knew that clams took a while (depending on species of course) to reach full grown size, it seemed a daunting task.

typically, clams in captivity go into bredding very infrequently... i mean VERY infrequently.

and if they do, most of the time its stress related.

i know a guy who mobs together a few dozen and allows the temperature to increase a few degrees during the summer months.

i dont know all his secrets, but it certainly does seem daunting...

The article gave ways of stimulating them to breed. The one they used was injection of chemicals into the internal organs of the clam.

From what I've read the three most common ways to induce spawning are extracting the gonads of mature clams, heat stress, or injecting serotonin into the clams.
