Hey,
Im from the bay area, and i have a zoanthid dominated tank. I like to avoid shipping costs though. So i like to go into walk in places more than order online. Its also a plus when you get to see things with your own eyes.

I'd like it if you guys could help me create a list of places to find good zoanthids, also it would help if you could post some info. They can be big LFS, traders, or small time dealers. Please add anything you know.

i'll start.

Aquarium Concepts, Dublin = Gets in some cool zoanthid colonies every once in a while. Expect to pay around 40-60 for a colony. Everyonce in a while someone will trade in a rare zoanthid frag.

All About Fish, Pleasant Hill = About the same as Aquarium concepts when it comes to zoas, except they keep them in one tank, which is easier to look at all the zoas at one time. Last time i went there they had colonies from 30-70 dollars.

Lucky Goldfish, SF = gets in some really great zoas, including a whole bunch of redwines and tubs blue zoas right now. But he charges top dollar for them. 30 bucks a polyp for the wines. He does frag all of his colonies though, and you can call in to have him frag ahead of time then come pick it up.

Rommel Lunn from ultimatefrags.com, San Jose = hes got great zoas, high prices. You can make walk in appointments to see all his stuff under your own eyes. i bought from him and was happy with what i got.

Allaboutfish rarely gets in new zoa's these days, they use to have a nice selection though.

ultimatefrags.com is a rip off, his per polyp prices are insane.

Diamondsinthereef.com gets in awesome large colonies of zoa's and palys.

Seasplendor in Fairfield has some nice colonies in stock at the moment.

Check out Reeffragz.com.

They are in Sunnyvale, Got nice Healthy collection, cheap prices.. Alot cheaper that Rommel. Need an appointment. Tell him that your a Bar Member and he'll hook you up..

yeah i did notice that about All about fish.

its true about ultimate frags, but he gave me crazy discounts cause i was local, and i think young. I would go back. but thats just me.

wow diamonds in the reef has some cool stuff but its way out of my price range.

i would like to check out seasplendor, are they a normal walk in type LFS?

they got some great stuff, and its all very reasonably priced. I think i check it out. Thanks.

im actually not a member of bar. I was interested so i went to the forums and it told me i had to sign up. But then i never got the email back? kinda odd. maybe i'll try again. I'd like to get into the trading/buying scene with local guys.

thanks for the help guys.

If you ever make your way to sac town, there are quite a few very good LFS over here. Definitely gotta check out Your Reef. They are a RC sponsor now so I think they have their own forum. Also you can check out the MARS forum. Lots of these guys have very nice Zoas that I drool over!

ultimatefrags is where I usually get my corals if I buy, otherwise I just trade with all the other local reefers around here =)

Reeffragz.com gets my vote, the owner is really nice and helpful for different level hobbists. Great service too.

I personally like seasplendor, evan is cool and seems to be knowledgeable to me. I got some Reverse Gorrila Nipples from him , $15.00 for 6 polylps, they were very small though

Evan will try to squeeze you for every penny though, his prices for zoa's tend to be high.

yeah that sounds kinda high for RGN but thats just me, if you think they are worth that much i think thats all that matters.

any zoanthid guys in the SF that are known from trading or small time selling that left out?

i'll check that LFS out if i ever make it up to Sacto.
