I am interested in plumbing a seahorse tank into my current system and wanted run some idea's by everyone. Currently I Run a 75 gallon reef tank with 2 1 inch overflows into a 33 gallon long sump with MR2 Skimmer and CR1 calcium reactor.

I have 2 30 gallon oceanic cubes. I was going to plumb one in as a refugium and the other as a seahorse tank.

I wondered if I could just use one of the 30 gallon cubes by taking one of the overflows and allowing gravity to feed the 30 then an overflow into the sump.

In this tank is where I could put the seahorses. Would I be able to use this as a DSB refugium with algae at the same time or are there things that could be harmful to the seahorses in the refugium?

Reef tanks tend to run too warm for the sea horses. They do better in the 72-74 temp. range. As the temp climbs, they tend to get bacterial infections. Bristle worms can sting the inside of their mouth if they snick it up. Seahorses are best kept apart from the reef tanks.

I have my 30L fudge plumed like that. I have the water going into my fudge from the main tank then the water comes out of the side of the 30g tank where I had a hole drilled. I stuck in a bulk head & some PVC pipe that hangs over the side of the sump & it drains right into my sump. I have done this twice now. It has always worked great for me. I dont know if it will make a good home for SHs like he said becouse of the temp but the tanks can be hooked up that way.
