Please don't lock my topic before I have a chance to reply. Really? It's that important it needs to quickly be locked? Some appear to have far to much free time. If you don't want me here I honestly couldn't care less. Having said that I do appreciate the responses in last thread. I admitted I know nothing about saltwater aquariums. Since my last post I have talked to a marine biologist, with a PhD. She indicated that very few people in the world, and absolutely Nobody in the hobby should have big shark's. The care needed is more than people can do. It was mentioned that she has personally seen Mako's reach 11 feet and 700 lbs, few are born in captivity and none survive being owned by hobbyist's. The tank needed would be at least a million dollars, it would be the only fish in there and I would need a permit from the state to even own one. That's not going to happen.
Research, academia, public aquariums are the only entities that have and should have them
Our tank in new home will be 5000 gallons ( since people needed to know) I personally wanted an Amazon rain forest North American game fish tank. I had 8 red bellied Piranhas before moving here but had to give them up.
I'd be happy with large mouth bass, crappie and trout but I'm told that at 5000 gallons freshwater tank would be a waste.
Since the holier than thou crowd showed up, I have done my own research and found that bamboo sharks and coral cats would be fine. I'm afraid of a beat down asking what I can put in there with them, so I'll ask the biologist. Thanks for the warm welcome
